Today, 2/23/2010 was a pretty epic day for me. It marked my appearance on the Howard Stern Show on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. Howard brought me in the studio and grilled me for about 40-45 minutes. Then I had a quick appearance on the Wrap-Up Show. You can check it out at http://howardstern.com/

Hopefully I will have some video clips from the show to post on here depending on what legal says. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity and the privilege to show my face, and let my voice be heard on the Stern Show.

I have to admit, walking in there I was incredibly nervous. I am a “behind the scenes” guy, and being in the studio threw me out of my element. With a little stammering, some throat clearing, and some poor articulation I made it through the gauntlet that can be a Howard interview.

Clearing up something I said about money. $30,000 is what I plan to have for the trip. That goes to cover two bikes, gear, insurance, visas, and a whole lot of travel. I am saving diligently, as is Kate, but we’re not there yet. That has to cover two people for several years and I don’t quite know if it’s going to be enough when we finally meet that goal of $30,000, but that is the number I had in my nervous head when Howard popped the question. Like I said on the show, neither of us come from rich families, we’re doing this all by ourselves.

I have received a TON of e-mail in response to today’s appearance. Over 70 e-mails thus far and only three of them negative! People have offered emotional support, a few small but much appreciated donations, and offers of places to stay and people to visit.

I cannot thank the Howard Listeners enough for their kind words and generosity. I will be posting some of the responses in due time (private information withheld of course). I plan on writing back to each and every single person, but you will have to give me time. There is a lot of mail and it keeps coming in.

So from the bottom of my crazy, organic heart, thank you. You are all great and I appreciate everything.
