Added Value Urban Farm, Brooklyn, NY

Published on April 28, 2010 by in Farms

Last weekend we had the pleasure, and the privilege to meet and work with the folks at Added Value Farm in Redhook Brooklyn. We weeded, composted, and dug up vegetable beds. It was great to get our hands dirty in the city and not because we touched the rails on the subway. We worked with a great group of people from New York Cares who were there to help the farm. Added Value even fed the group of us lunch. For a $5 suggested donation we got a variety of home made dishes, desserts, and even the lettuce I helped pick that morning. And yes, we rode our bikes there.

More articles and pictures to come on our lunch and my composting experience.

Added Value is in their 10th year of operation and is only getting stronger by the year.
